Psalm 18:46 The LORD (In His Hand is All that Exists) lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God (Strong Controller Revealing His Work of Support) of my salvation (Yeshua) be exalted.

Psalm 18:35 You have also given me the shield (defence, cover, surround) of Your salvation (Yeshua); Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. In our initial look at the above verse we discovered that in Hebrew the word shield and garden are derived from the same root word.
We also discovered that the fence or shield that protects the garden is Yeshua our Saviour. We can add another word to this picture and that is the word grace. You may recall that the Hebrew word picture for grace is: a fence that protects life. The first occurrence of the word grace in Scripture is in reference to Noah the builder of the ark. Of course, the ark was actually a very large fence (shield) protecting all the life left on planet earth after the flood. We are told that the ark was to be lined inside and out with pitch. Now it just so happens that pitch shares the same root as the word atonement. So, let us put all this together. The ark is a picture of life shielded/protected by a symbol of atoning blood. The source of that atoning blood is Yeshua our Salvation. Psalm 18:35 You have also given me the shield (defence, cover, surround) of Your salvation (Yeshua); Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. What on earth do the words shield and salvation have to do with a garden? In English usage they have very little connection, particularly in our modern usage of these words. However, in Hebrew there is both a rich and powerful connection. Let me explain. In Hebrew the words shield and garden are derived from the same root word ganan, which means to defend, cover, surround. Genesis 2:8 The LORD God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. A more literal translation of the above verse would be: "The Lord planted a shielded and enclosed garden, in Eden". But what or who exactly was shielding and enclosing the garden? Psalm 18:35 tells us that Yeshua (Jesus) was the defence, cover and surround protecting the garden. The Hebrew word picture meaning for Eden is eternal life. John 10:27 & 28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life (Eden); and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. I trust you enjoy the journey of learning to live in the reality of this gift of eternal life (Eden) which Yeshua has guaranteed with His own personal shield of protection. |
