After listening to a message by Joshua Mills numerous times in recent days I was prompted to go back into the archives and resurrect this blog.

I really want to encourage you to read this blog and then listen to Joshua's message:

God Said: Let there be Purpose?????April 18, 2014 by eaglerj

"I am greatly indebted to Skip Moen for his illustration of how the Greek mindset defines a candle as opposed to how the Hebrew mind defines a candle. This illustration, which I will share shortly, has proven to be a door into a whole realm of revelation for me.

When we (Westerners) look at a candle we view it as a candle whether it is alight or not. However, from a Hebrew perspective prior to the candle being lit it is just wax and a wick it is not a candle. It only becomes a candle the moment it begins to burn and provide light and warmth. You see the provision of light and heat is the purpose of a candle and in Hebrew thought until it is serving it’s purpose it is not a candle.

After hearing this insightful illustration I began to ponder Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light”: and there was light. God made this declaration on Day 1 of creation, but surprisingly it isn’t until Day 3 that God creates what we understand to be the sources of light i.e.. sun, moon, stars.

This got me asking the question: what in the world did God mean when He said let there be light? because it is clear from the text that what I understand as “light” did not appear at the moment of his declaration.

The Hebrew word for light used in this verse is ‘ore but when I looked at the definition of this word it did not help to answer my question. So, I decided to look at the word pictures that are attached to the three Hebrew letters for the word we transliterate into English as ‘ore.

Here are the three letters: Alef-Vav-Reysh and the three pictures are Ox-Nail,Peg-Head of Man. Using these three pictures one of the meanings that can be derived is First Secure The Highest.

There it was, hidden within the word pictures, the answer to my question!!!!

When God said: “Let there be light” He was thinking of the creation of purpose.

So, if God was thinking purpose when he made this declaration about light how are we to understand darkness?

In Hebrew the word for darkness is also a three letter word: Chet-Sheen-Reysh and the pictures are: Fence, Inner Room-The Tooth-Head of Man. Again, using these three pictures one of the meanings derived is To Cut Off From, To Consume What Is Highest.

In essence darkness deprives us of purpose.

John 8:12 NKJV Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light (purpose) of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness (without purpose), but have the light(purpose) of life.” (Italics added)

On this Easter, we pause to remember the purpose that Jesus as the Light of the World came to fulfill: to ensure that none of us should live without purpose!!!!!"

Another point to consider. When King Solomon was at his wisest he would have been in the light, ie. lived with purpose. But as he went his own way and lost the wisdom that God had given him, he moved into darkness, ie. He lost his purpose.
