WHO TOLD YOU?November 21, 2008 by eaglerj
"If the serpent introduced the whole concept of measures (those things that block the full light of the revelation of who God is) then it becomes of vital interest to us as human beings how both Adam & Eve responded to this new element in their world.
Genesis 3
  • 8.And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
  • 9.Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
  • 10.So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
  • 11.And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
  • 12.Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
  • 13.And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
Their first response was to hide from the presence of God. If I say so myself that is one gobsmacking revelation in itself!!! Our first response when measures are applied to us, whether by ourselves or by someone or something outside of ourselves, our first response will be to hide from the presence of Papa. When we realise that ungodly measures are being applied to us we need to ask the question God asked of Adam: Who told you (insert whatever the measure may be)……? This is important, because if we do not honestly answer that question then we proceed to the next downward step.
The next downward step, after avoiding the answer to the question ( Who told you?) is to begin applying your own measures to God or to other people, which Adam does when he tells God “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” Why is this a measure? It infers that what God created was not very good and in giving the women to him as a helpmate God had set Adam up for a fall. It’s intent is to undermine that truth that God is light and in Him is no darkness. Also, note within this statement Adam is applying a measure which Eve and every women after her has had to struggle with ie. you are inferior to man and you cannot be trusted.
Here is satan’s trojan horse. He has managed to get both Adam & Eve to buy into the practice of applying measures to God, to themselves and to each other.
It may sound simplistic but the vicious cycle of applying measures could have been nipped in the bud if Adam had answered the question Who told you you were naked? rather than resorting to applying measures.
The time has come to answer both of God’s questions: Where are you? and Who told you….?"

Blessings!!
