Numbers 20:11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank. Our favourite version of "inferior good" is to take something the Lord said to us at a different time and use it to override what He said, or what He is saying in the present moment.
Clearly, the word of the Lord to Moses was "speak to the rock". However, Moses remembered the last time they had needed water he had struck the rock, in response to the Lord's instruction and water had gushed out. This version of "inferior good" became the ultimate roadblock to Moses entering the Promised Land. so, as we continue to journey through the Year 5779, this is my prayer for you: Philippians 1:9 ........ that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment (between good & inferior good), that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
